There are two passions in which Bolo always seems to return. One, of course, is horses. The other is music!
Bolo spent most of his spare time at his uncle’s ranch in South Carolina. The remainder of his spare time was playing music. Playing strictly “by Ear”, piano was the first instrument that he learned. When Bolo was seven years old, Santa brought a new guitar which quickly became his instrument of choice! Using the Stage name of Keith Curry, Bolo began playing music with friends then going on the road with a country/rock band at 17 years old as a lead guitar player and vocalist. Besides the guitar, Bolo also learned and played five string banjo and fiddle!
During the 80’s, he opened for some of the top Nashville artists at the time such as Shelly West, Moe Bandy, Mel McDaniel, The Judds, John Anderson and others.
In the 90’s, Bolo started spending more time in Nashville working with artist development producers, writing songs, and learning the business. He became a CMA member in 1993 and continued touring with his band “Derringer” playing the top, “A” night clubs, fairs and festivals and continued opening for top Nashville artists such as Charlie Daniels and again for John Anderson.
Bolo and his group made several appearances on The Haywood Henson TV Show who also aired the video of Long Legged Woman regularly . Treasure Coast Records, signed him and release two original songs written by Bolo, “Daylight in Dixie” and “Long Legged Woman”. Both were recorded and performed by him and The Derringer Band with both seeing some limited success, appearing on the charts in Europe!
In 2020, Bolo released his album “Here & There” that featured several of his original songs including “Just Another Honky Tonk Song” and “Let the Reins Go”. Another song off this album “Girls with Cowboy Hats” has done very well!
In March of 2023, a new single “Rock Bottom” was released! With the creation of his new band “The Smokin Rodeo Band” , plans are to release more new singles in 2024!
Bolo gives thanks to all his supporters over the many years and hopes to keep on rockin for years to come!
On set for the full length feature film “A Gunfighter Deal”! Bolo is well know for his horsemanship skills and appears in the movie as a horseman and wrangler!
